BEAUTIFUL OR UGLY?

57SQFT INSTALLATION

GRAPHIC DESIGN

PARIS, FRANCE │ 2024

Beginning with a series of nude self-portraits, I posed my body in positions considered sexual, beautiful, or ugly according to societal standards. These poses were transformed into a repeating wallpaper pattern covering 57 square feet that appears abstract from a distance but reveals the nude female body upon closer inspection. The hanging patterns are photographic gels created from images of inanimate objects arranged into forms resembling the female body. Colored red, they reference anger, oppression, and the persistent objectification and sexualization of women, reflecting how deeply this lens is embedded in the way bodies are viewed and represented.
