AS WITHIN, SO WITHOUT

CERAMIC SCULPTURES / PHOTOGRAPHY SERIES

PARIS, FRANCE │ 2024

These works explore the inevitability of aging and the finitude of life, inspired by the way coral turns white as it dies. I directed the model into a series of positions that reflect the human life cycle, beginning with the embryonic pose and progressing toward death. The ceramic sculptures connect my childhood memories of exploring the textures of the ocean with my understanding of muscle and tissue developed through my work as a massage therapist. The forms draw parallels between the structures found in the human body and those present in marine biology, suggesting that all living things on earth are interconnected and ultimately reach the end of their life cycle.
